Well, editing is going along smoothly.  I have made it to about half way!  Edit has added another 5k to the manuscript... where do all the words come from I wonder?  Up to a 90k work of fantasy though I do find that as the writing progressess (since the first novel), it's not quite as YA as it should be.

I wonder, is it me changing my tastes, or is society getting less blaze about things?

Enough of the deep thought, Friday the 13th was a great night to get out and about to attend a themed trivia night.  No sexy vampire costume for me... Zombie all the way!  Needless to say my friend and I received a few good looks on our drive into the city!  Good night in all!

For those of you who follow my face book page, you may have seen the occasional bird photo.  Well, I admit it.  I'm a keen bird watcher and combined with that, I love the challenge of taking photos of these often difficult to see creatures.  To that end, I've created a new website http://aussiebird.weebly.com/ check it out if you're interested in having a look at some of the amazing Australian bird life. You never know, it might inspire your imagination!

Sorry for a little bit of an ego trip, but, yay, I won the latest short story competition hosted on SFF World with my short story 'the coin'.  Or, if you happen to be a member of SFF world and for some reason 'Snikerty snikerty ha ha,' comes to mind - yes, that's the story.

Keep your eyes out.  Thanks to these monthly Flash Fiction contests and the occasional Short Story contest that I enter, I'll soon have enough to publish a small anthology.  What I need to work out is whether or not I'll put it up through all mediums, or for the first time, try out the kindle library.  I'll keep you posted.

Well, have been working on a cover for Elflings so you may have seen my ice dragon art.  I'm pretty happy with it, only thing I'm working on is the silhouettes... not sure if I'll keep the ones I have, or work on a female archer and a two sworded warrior for Elonan... will try both and will let the world decide.  In the works will also be a green dragon, purple... something darker for Subversion and then for the grand finally a combination of them all.  Let me know what you think.

Well, I thought I'd try something on my facebook page. Flash Bang for Mad Monday. I choose a theme and start a story. This week the theme is Fear... so I wonder if anyone will participate.

For those who feel like joining in.

I believe in social media karma so if you like my page let me know, I'd be happy to reciprocate.

So now I sit back, and wait for the masses to join in.

Almost 1 year since Quest of the Demon was published I'm back to do a book signing at the Seymour Library on the 10th of March.  So if you want to have a chat, catch up, grab your own copy of the recently released Tallen - Quest of the Demon Aftermath 1 or just ignore me as you walk into the library to borrow a book, head on down (or up) to Seymour on the morning of the 31st.  I'll be there from 11am.

If you would like to secure your copy of either book, sign up on facebook.

My flash fiction 'Thump' is featured in this month's issue of Anti-sf.  Check out the pod cast to hear some of the flash fiction pieces, including my own attempt at narrating my own story.  After working out how to record on my i-phone I had a crack at making things interesting so if you've got some time to kill, sit back, have a listen, have a laugh, or go to sleep, you're choice :).

Thank you to Jasmine and Marissa for their time. These two lovely bloggers are from Beneath the Moon and Stars and both of them thought it would be a good idea to see what my first was all about.

For Jasmine - "This book was a perfect change for me. I haven't read a fantasy in forever."   I'm lucky she took a chance on reading Quest of the Demon (which is nothing but fantasy) because she finished her review with the following; "Overall I loved this. I've heard rumors about a sequel and I'm hoping there is one. I highly recommend this :). 4/5 Stars"

As if that didn't make me happy enough.  Her co-blogger, Marissa also had some lovely things to say "Overall I really enjoyed this book there was dragons and ships and magic and it was awesome. 4/5 stars."

Check out their blog at;

Well it's 2012 and now it's almost February already!  Where does the time go?  I'll tell you, it gets poured into books both reading and writing!  As of today, the first draft of Deceiver has been finished!  Yes, I did my happy dance much to the amusement of my husband.  Also, as a belated Merry Christmas and as a present to my readers, here's a sneak peek of Elflings - Quest of the Demon Aftermath 2!

"Was he imagining the sound?  Had the cold, fatigue and hunger finally driven him mad?  The thought of food made his stomach rumble but he doubted that he would be able to take off his backpack let alone find the rabbit that he had stashed there.

Elonan looked up.  Was that a flicker of movement?  He squeezed his eyes shut and looked again only to find that the white spots in his sight remained.  With the brightness of the sun and the spots in his vision he saw nothing more.  Under the snow covered jacket his shoulders tensed.  Blurred vision or not, Elonan knew that something was out there.  By sheer power of will he managed to clench his fingers into half fists.  His daggers were within easy reach but with no sensation in his hands he would not be able to hold them.  With grim determination he readied himself." - end of chapter 5

Well, Christmas has come and gone and now it's time to go jogging again... oh well.

What did you get for Christmas?  Any good reads?  Me, I have Isobelle Carmody's 'The Sending'.  (Thank you to my husband of almost two months!)  I have been waiting for this book for over 10 years ever since I read the original Obernewtyn novel in highschool all those years ago.

So, I'm sure I'll have this book done in a few days which will leave the finale of the Darkfall series that I'm still waiting on from Isobelle....  She writes such good books!  I just want to know what happens!!!

In the years to come, I hope I manage to stick to my 1 book per year until my series is done goal.  Check back in Dec - 2016 to see how I go (I also have the ambitious plan of releasing 2 books in 2015 as Subversion and Deceiver happen at the same time, but follow one of the good guys while the other follows one of the bad guys!)

Happy writing all.
